Moving from a metropolitan area to a small town I thought I would miss the great musical opportunities I had in the Quad Cities. My husband and I had season tickets to the Quad City Symphony and we enjoyed excellent music with well-known guest artists. But recently I discovered great music can be found anywhere. […]
When my girls were growing up I tried to share with them from the Word of God and prayed they would love the Word as much as I did. For years I was the teacher. But that has changed now. Phone rings. The caller ID says it is my daughter, Jessica. When I answer I […]
When my husband and I moved to Michigan last fall I was fascinated by the many lighthouses that are in the state. In a blog I wrote then I said I was looking forward to spring/summer when we could begin exploring these lighthouses. Michigan’s Lighthouses Well – that time has come. This past weekend we […]

Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea and frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honalee. Little Jackie Paper loved that rascal Puff, and brought him strings and sealing wax and other fancy stuff. Together they would travel on a boat with billowed sail. Jackie kept a lookout perched on Puff’s gigantic tail. Noble […]
Recently I posted a blog on my memories of my favorite Christmas gift ever. After posting that I have found myself awake in the middle of the night thinking of other Christmas memories. Seems this first post has now led to more. Christmas Past – My Best Christmas Present Ever In my second post I […]
Laughing at how much I look like my Dad with my bald head! This month I celebrate 12 years cancer free! As I review the journal that I kept describing my first feelings as I heard that awful word “Cancer,” I am so thankful to God that I am still here – a cancer survivor! Day 1 – […]
After moving to Michigan in October we have tried to do some sightseeing. However, cold weather is limiting that right now. Crispus Attucks one of five killed in the Boston Massacre Recently I shared a post about a statue of an African-American that my husband and I found when we were exploring a park in Charleston, North Carolina. One of my readers wondered how many statues there are in the USA of African-Americans. That started me […]
When I think of sand, I think of the desert. But how neat to enjoy sand dunes right here in Michigan – right alongside a beautiful lake! We explored the sand dunes at Silver Lake. They are located along Lake Michigan between Muskegon and Ludington. Over 2,000 acres of sand, the dunes are part of […]
Me and my “walking stick” Today is the birthday of one of my grandsons, Matthew. Remembering when he was born, I always stop and thank God that he is here with us. Shortly after Matthew was born, they had to send him by helicopter to Children’s Hospital in St. Louis. His lungs were not […]
Today we sang a song in worship and it started me thinking. When we go to church, are we coming as worshipers or art critics? We often hear people complain about the church. It’s too formal It’s too informal The preaching is too long The preaching is not long enough They are too many hypocrites […]
I must confess that I am constantly looking for new words to use in a game. When I read a book I am on the outlook for new words. As I glance through a magazine, my eyes just seem to latch on to new words in the articles or the advertisements. During the commercials when […]
