I have not posted anything for almost three weeks (have you missed me?). In case anyone was wondering, here’s my story. In 1971 Hasbro/Romper Room created small egg-shaped figures that “wobble” from side to side but return to an upright position. Their slogan for these toys was “Weebles Wobble but They Don’t Fall Down.” Inside […]

Tomorrow my youngest granddaughter starts high school. How did that happen? When did she grow from a little girl to a beautiful young woman? While I enjoy our new relationship as we relate more adult to adult, I confess I miss playing “imagine” with her. These twelve toy animals have been stored in a box […]

And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you. Psalm 9:10 Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. Isaiah 12:2 Our […]

After my son told me I was not old, I was seasoned, I keep asking myself “What seasoning am I?” Thinking on that led me down a lot of different paths. I thought of funny descriptions of our different personalities. But then it led me to think of the concept of followers of Jesus bearing […]

c – on the assumption that Doing a study on 1 John in the Bible, I noticed how many times John used the word “if.”  That started me thinking about all the “ifs” in the Word of God.  It seems to me that there are many promises of God that we claim without taking into account […]

I read this story a few years ago. I do not know who wrote it. It is not original with me but at this time of Thanksgiving I think it is so appropriate. “One afternoon a shopper at the local mall felt the need for a coffee break.  She bought herself a little bag of […]

While in Mackinaw City for our 40th wedding anniversary, we enjoyed a ride on the Shepler’s Ferry. While we did not go the island, we chose a nighttime cruise “A Night of Falling Stars”. We boarded the ferry a little before 9:00 p.m. and enjoyed an hour and a half cruise as we counted the […]

I’m sure many of you have heard the story behind this song “It Is Well.” But if you have not, here it is. It is an inspiring testimony of how God is present in the middle of our tragedies. That does not mean a Christian feels no pain, heartache, sorrow. Rather it proclaims that God […]

Reading a friend’s blog today got my mind thinking about how fast this year has gone by. How fast my life is going by. As I thought about the years already past (76) and wondered how many years lie ahead of me, I thought of the story in the Bible of Enoch. In the genealogy […]

“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what […]

The Gospels tell us a little of what happened after Jesus rose from the grave. But the story I love best is when he spoke to Mary Magdalene. She was weeping as she thought someone had taken the body of Jesus away. The tomb was empty. Who could have done such a horrible deed? When […]

Halloween decorations are off the shelf – and even before we celebrate Thanksgiving, the stores are filled with Christmas decorations and music. Many of my friends tell me they are busy with their Christmas shopping list. It is amazing to me how much money we spend at Christmas. According to the National Retail Federation, American […]

Five years ago, I wrote this blog. At that time I said: “Last year when we downsized from a nine-room home to a five-room condo, I knew some books would have to go.  But how to decide what to keep, what to give away.  We donated over ten boxes of books to a local Christian […]
